The Intellectual light of
Professor Knife Abraham has Left us the Poorer

The first time I met this intellectual giant was in January 16th 2006, in Khartoum – the capital of fraternal Sudan. He was invited by Dr. Haroun, the Head of the Institute of Strategic studies to deliver a lecture on the complex Eritrean/Ethiopian conflict. The lecture that he delivered with erudition and clarity was well-attended by Sudanese and Eritrean intellectuals. I was invited to perform the intimidating task of formal commentator; the exchange was pleasant and exhilarating. Since then I had the pleasure of meeting the departed professor on several occasions in Addis Ababa. In a region where the art of writing is just taking root, Professor Kinfe’s intellectual production can be witnessed by the staggering number of books, essays, and specialized studies he contributed. Yes, Professor Abraham was a legend in his life time, and his books shall be the obelisks by which future generations shall remember him for eternity. I grieve with his family and friends: may his journey be peaceful!
