The Eritrean Association for peace and democracy will organize its seventh time conference under a theme of, ” Democracy and conflict managements in Eritrea” In this conference there will be lectures, panel and workshops. The first day of the conference will be in English for invited guests from all political, civil and academic institutions at international level. The second day will be a whole day with Eritrean nationals. The third day will be workshop on specific issues of conflict and their solution.

The aim and objectives of the conference

The overall aim of the conference is to bring all Eritreans together and discuss on the issues of conflicts. It is to produce a method of resolving them and develop a shared partnership and programme of action against those who are anti –democracy and peace in Eritrea.

The Conference should achieve the following goals:

-         Identify the major obstacles for conflict management.

-         Develop and establish sustainable partnership between the forces for democratic changes.

-         Develop sustainable dialogue between the forces for democracy.

-         Negotiate the terms of mutuality, how to work together, identify what methods and process can help us to resolve our conflict issues.

The programme of the conference

The conference will be held for three days. The first day will be on Friday 2nd  November 2007.  It will be an evening seminar starting at five o’clock in the evening. It will be lecture, panel and discussion. The seminar will be in English.

The second day will be on Saturday 3rd November 2007; it is a whole day seminar. The seminar will be held in Swedish, Tigrinya and Arabic.

The third day will be on Sunday  the 4th November 2007. This day it will be a workshop. The workshop will break into groups and will consider the specific issues of conflict and then discuss together what they have reached in their groups.
